Looking for last minute Valentine’s Day plans?

Hello! This is my first blog post for West Valley Moms Blog and although I had planned on writing about gratitude (next time!), I thought it appropriate with today being Valentine’s Day to write about a few of my favorite restaurants in town. I consider myself a bit of a foodie and love finding independent, new and exciting places to eat.  Here are a few recommendations, perfect  for Valentine’s Day, whether out with your main squeeze or your girlfriends.

One of my favorite places to head out for a date night is Fuego Bistro. It is a hidden gem and so adorable (super cute patio area for when the weather is right).  Their food is to die for and you can usually pick up a Groupon for $30 worth of food for only $10. I typically eat vegetarian but when dining here I order the tilapia.  It is served with black beans and corn salsa.  With each of their dinner menu items you get a choice of their amazing sides such as green chile cornbread, jalapeno creamed corn, and chipotle cheddar mashed potatoes.  Be prepared to leave here stuffed!  The portions are large and the food is AMAZING!

Another great place to have a date night or enjoy a nice glass of wine with your friends is Postino.  NO ONE’S  bruschetta compares!  Some of my favorites are the ricotta with dates and pistachios, roasted peppers with goat cheese and the smoked salmon with pesto.  Mmmm… my mouth is watering just describing them! 🙂   They have an amazing wine selection and some very yummy desserts.  I usually head to the one on central, one of the best restaurants in town.

One of my all-time favorite places to eat out PERIOD is FEZ.  They have the best sweet potato fries!!!  And quite possibly the best veggie burger I’ve ever had.   And I have tried a lot of them.  Other than their pesto caesar salad, I have yet to try the rest of their menu because of how much I love these items. If you haven’t been there yet, go there now!

There are a lot of places in town to get pizza.  In my opinion, some of the best locally are the Parlor and Cibo.  When going to the parlor, I often order the funghi pizza which has a bunch of yummy roasted mushrooms, goat cheese and truffle oil and the parlor insalata minus the salami.   One of my favorite salads ever.  It is light, refreshing and the perfect blend of unique ingredients.  You can also head over to Cibo which has a very romantic atmosphere at night and enjoy scrumptious pizza, pasta, and wine.  The restaurant is a restored 1913 bungalow.  You can’t get much cuter than that and the ambience is the best around.  For dessert try one of their yummy nutella creations, you will thank me. 😉

If you’re in the mood for something a little spicier, you should check out Barrio Café or Gallo Blanco.  Barrio Café is quite small, I recommend getting a reservation, but I assure you, the food is worth any wait you may have.  They make guacamole table side that tastes like heaven. Everything I’ve had at this restaurant was impeccable. There is also Gallo Blanco which is located at the Clarendon Hotel.  They have one of the best happy hours in town in my opinion.  Mix-and-match tacos and yummy alcoholic beverages!  For a real treat, book a room at the Clarendon and stay overnight. They are offering this deal for almost half off for Valentine’s Day night only!!!  It is a super cute, fun, trendy boutique hotel that offers some history as well as an awesome location with quick access to a bunch of happening spots downtown.

Last but not least there is a little gem called the Tuck Shop.  This restaurant is tucked away in a residential neighborhood in what appears to once have been someone’s home. I also recommend getting a reservation for this restaurant.  Their menu is small but everything on it will make your taste buds jump for joy! EVERYTHING. No joke.

These are just a few of my favorites around town and each would be a perfect place to take your honey on Valentine’s Day or for a fun night out with the girls!  Be sure to let me know what you think, which restaurants you have tried or are going to and I hope you have a fabulous Valentine’s Day! xo
