5 Amazing Destinations for the Ultimate Girls’ Weekend!

Being a mom is exhausting.

Sometimes we need a break; a break from the kids, the pets, the housework, the real work, and occasionally, the husband.  Not because we don’t love them, but because we miss ourselves.  Our pre-baby, pre-married selves.  It’s not selfish and it’s not from a place of anger, it’s just that we want to take a break and hang out with some feminine energy. Sometimes getting away isn’t as much about getting away physically but more about getting away emotionally.

Below you will find some of my favorite spots to enjoy a Girls’ Weekend, in and out of town!

Girls' Weekend

Kimpton Hotel Palomar Phoenix

When choosing a hotel for a staycation or getaway weekend, I like to choose somewhere not only in a popular area with restaurants and bars nearby but somewhere that also has a distinguished restaurant and bar within the resort or hotel itself. So, to start out list, I have to mention how much we love Blue Hound Kitchen and Cocktails inside the Palomar.  Seasonal drinks and decadent pub food featuring a fusion of Southern cookin’ and Southwest spice.  And in addition to Blue Hound they also have a third story pool overlooking downtown Phoenix withLustre Rooftop Bar.  Even though it’s December, it’s still poolside weather, so there’s never a bad time to take advantage of a weekend at the Palomar.

Girls' Weekend

Omni Scottsdale Resort & Spa at Montelucia

For a more Mediterranean-esque experience, I highly suggest the Montelucia in Scottsdale, found at the base of Camelback Mountain. Don’t worry though, there’s plenty to do there beside a hike if that’s not your thing.  We love the brunch and tapas at Prado.

Girls' Weekend

JW Marriott Phoenix Desert Ridge Resort & Spa + Tucson Starr Pass Resort & Spa

We love both of these resorts with their lazy rivers and upscale interiors.  Which you choose just depends if you’re looking to get away right away or if you can handle the 2 hour drive for a couple degrees cooler weather.  We’ve stayed at both for several summers now, so the choice is yours!  Tucson has so much to do!  Sometimes it get’s written off for a small town, but it’s packed with culture and the best Mexican food a girl can find.  Oh, might I also mention margaritas!

Girls Weekend

The ART Hotel in Downtown Denver

Denver is top on my weekend getaway list because my best friend lives there! If I had to make a to do list, it would be coffee at Amethyst, maybe some henna from Henna Luna to kick of the fun, and then dinner at City o City.  There’s lots to do in this great upcoming big city.  A quick search on any airline should turn up flight for under $200.  We love the Art hotel because it’s located next door to the Denver Art Museum and in walking distance of many of the city attractions.  The hotel features original artwork from artists throughout and has a very unique rooftop bar.

Girls Weekend

Kimpton Hotel Vintage Portland

Portland is another quick trip worthy of a girls’ weekend.  A few of my favorite breweries include Rogue Brewery, StormBreaker Brewing and 10 Barrel Brewing.  We love to go Powell’s Books and walk around for hours exploring all the weirdness that is Portland.  Shopping at vintage boutiques, finding food trucks and drinking beer, it’s a complete girls’ weekend!  Portland is a great designation for mamas looking to explore the Pacific Northwest for a nice change from our dry desert to cloud cover, and usually, even some rain.

Where are your favorite places to get away for a girls’ weekend with your besties? And what do you do when you get there?!
