DIY: St. Patrick’s Day Banner

2

I think St. Patrick’s Day is an underrated holiday! I know we send our kids to school wearing green and we may even make green eggs in the morning as a fun treat for breakfast, but that seems to be where the celebrations start and stop.  Not many people I know actually decorate for St. Patrick’s Day; they go straight from Valentine’s Day to Easter. In an effort to be a bit more intentional about St. Patrick’s Day, I decided to create some home decor and am eager to share it.  This super easy DIY St. Patrick’s Day Banner could be used as a simple house decoration, or for a festive St. Patrick’s Day party!

stpatricksday_7 copy2I’m calling this DIY even though the paper banner was pre-made. . . . gotta love Target (these can easily be found in most craft stores too). It took me less than half an hour to create this fun and festive garland, so this is something you could easily whip up last minute.

Materials you will need:

  • Pre-made Banner (this one is from Target – here’s one similar –  I have seen them on CLEARANCE at craft stores too)
  • Gold Tissue Paper
  • Lucky Gold Coins
  • Adhesive
  • Glue Gun (not pictured)
  • Scissors

Step 2

Cut the strips of tissue paper into fringe. Be sure not to cut all the way through the strip.

Step 3

Adhere to the banner. I like using rolling scrapbook adhesive for this, but you could use your glue gun as well.
