1

Get started on your holiday shopping early this weekend and BUY LOCAL at the Front Porch Pickins Vintage Market!

The market opens early for you serious shoppers at 8am on Friday, November 13th at Peoria Sports Complex. It closes at 4pm and then opens again at 9am-4pm on Saturday.

I asked the FPP Team to give our NPhxMoms readers some “Insider Shopping Tips” on the market. Here’s what they shared:

  1. If you see something you like, buy it then – it likely won’t be there when you go back.
  2. Bring cash. There will not be an ATM on site. There is a Bank of America on the NE corner of 83rd Avenue & Bell Rd (just north of the event facility), should you need more. Some vendors do take credit, but not all.
  3. Bring a pen! We have space for you to make notes on the vendor map, should you want to track down a vendor’s booth you want to revisit.
  4. Plan on staying for breakfast and lunch. There are 11 food vendors on site.
  5. Wear comfy shoes. With 266 vendors, the size of the market is VERY large. You’ll be walking a lot.
  6. Feel free to bring a stroller or shopping cart. They are welcome.
  7. We are revealing a big secret about April 2016’s market at our November market. Be there to find out what the big surprise is!
  8. We will be preselling early entry tickets for our April 2016 show. Something different for April is that you won’t be able to buy tickets online. If you want to avoid a trip to University of Phoenix Stadium’s box office – buy your tickets while you’re at November’s market. They make a great stocking stuffer!

Great stuff! Thanks FPP Team!

One last thing… according to Local First Arizona, for every $100 spent at a locally owned business, $73 stays in the local economy while $27 leaves. For a non-locally owned business, only $43 of your $100 stays in the local economy and $57 leaves. That’s big incentive to BUY LOCAL. In fact, my husband and I have decided to buy the majority of our holiday gifts from local businesses this year. It’s hard to go 100% local when you have a 5 year old and that dang Treasure Truck commercial comes on TV… every… 10… minutes. You mamas know what I mean.

So get your tickets now! Early Bird tickets are $10. Advance tickets are $2 and tickets at the door are $3. I’ll definitely be there! Hazel & May will be parked at booth K3. Come on by! I’d love to meet you.

Emily
The last few years have brought big changes for Emily. After spending years in high-stress, deadline-driven TV jobs in East Coast metros, family circumstances brought her and her husband Joel to the Arizona desert. Now this former news junkie is a stay-at-home mom to Miles, a fast-talking toddler with energy to spare. She spends her days teaching him about faith, letters, numbers and manners. Whenever he’s asleep she boots up the laptop to write for North Phoenix Moms Blog and other freelance gigs. Whatever spare time she has left is spent on a hike with her family or a rare date night with Joel, at the gym, coffee and dinner with friends, or in her craft room creating simple, beautiful jewelry for her online boutique, Hazel & May, and giving too many treats to her pups, Pepper and Gizmo.
