Happy Hostess: Sadie’s 1st Birthday

1

I’ll begin by saying, a couple of nights before the “big day,” I was swearing off big birthday parties! I was hunched over on my knees, scrubbing my baseboards!! I mean . . . seriously?!

I know, I’m sick.

But the day of the big party came and Sadie’s reaction to the events during the party made it worth the effort – all the preparation and bodily injuries like the stabbed finger from cutting the banner and the injured knees from scrubbing the floors were washed away.

The color theme for this party was black, white, gold and a little hint of pink! The secondary theme was “baby’s first year!”

Here’s a peek into our celebration!

Sadie’s changing table fit perfectly into both the color and “baby’s first year” theme – it was also a cool way to display sweet treats that we enjoyed during the party and some that guests were able to take with, the shelving below was a great space for storing presents.

I tried to update the quintessential, and ever so popular, year in review banner. I kept it simple and modern using black chipboard backing and black and white prints with a stamped number in white chalk ink.

By keeping it simple I was able to repurpose the photos and use in Sadie’s first year album. Black and white is timeless, although I might be just a little bias. I took plastic animal figurines that I found in the dollar bin at Michaels, and I sprayed them gold to fit in with the color & baby scheme.
