My sons are stereotypical boys: they watch football with their Dad, yell at the ref when he makes a bad call, and cheer when their team scores. They frequently carry toy swords and water guns around the house; I assume to be prepared on the off chance a “bad guy” makes it past Batman and Superman and into the house. So, when they heard Monster Jam was coming to town (coincidentally a week after my oldest’s 7th birthday), they started their usual ritual of running around the house, screaming at the top of their lungs with excitement.
If you are a “boy mom” or have any adrenaline junkies in your home, Monster Jam is about as high octane as you can get. My kids started shouting out names of who (or what?) they wanted to see, and I nodded knowingly, but made a mental note that I needed to do some preliminary research! While my oldest son is super excited to see Gold Digger, I found my own reason to get excited. I went into this thinking it was a “boy” event, but very quickly got over that stereotype. It’s actually a great demonstration of girl power: 18-year-old Rosalee Ramer will be driving her truck Wildflower. How awesome is that?
