SandFest at the Children’s Museum of Phoenix

I don’t know about you, but I love the beach and my hubby and I can’t wait to take my little man to dig his toes in the sand while we play and soak up some sun.  However, this stress-free vacation becomes a little more difficult when you have to plan for a long weekend, book a place to stay, pack the car with everything you’ll need, and time accordingly for optimal snoozing for your munchkin in the car.  Want a little taste of some beach-filled-fun for the whole family right here in Phoenix?  Look no further!  The most talked about event of last year, SandFest, is back at the Children’s Museum of Phoenix!  This event is sure to be an unforgettable family experience packed full of activities all weekend long, and we are giving you the full run down below.

On Friday, March 4^th (5-9pm) there is a Beach Bum Block Party! for adults only (21+), which means … wait for it …drinks, food trucks, beer pong, beach volleyball, a sandpit, live entertainment, and more.  So, call your babysitter, get it on the calendar, and plan that date night!  Best of all?  This is a fundraiser for the Children’s Museum of Phoenix, so your adult-only night out is directly benefiting their amazing programs and educational offerings that we all enjoy throughout the year.  Tickets are $20/person if purchased in advance, or $25/person if purchased at the door.  RSVP and learn more about this event here.

Saturday March 5^th (9am-4pm) Sandfest continues with Sandcastles on 7th!  The “Sand Guys” from the Travel Channel’s Sand Master’s show are lined up and they will be busy designing and creating a one-of-a-kind signature sand sculpture.  Better yet?  They are going to share some of their tips and tricks with you.  So when you do book that long weekend vacation by the beach, you can put your newly acquired sandcastle skills to work.  I fondly remember playing on the beach with my family, begging my mom to help me build a sandcastle.  I know I could use some pointers, and these are definitely the guys to get them from!  Food trucks and entertainment will also be present, and to top off the day, there is a sand-sational sandcastle building competition, and you get to vote for your favorite!  This is a free event for the whole family, and there is reduced museum admission for $8/person so you can head inside and have some fun after you have had your fill of sandcastles!  RSVP and learn more about this event here.

Finally, on Sunday March 6^th (9am-4pm) send the grandparents down to the Children’s Museum of Phoenix with your kiddos for Sand-Parent’s Day!  This event, sponsored by Carstens Family Funds, builds upon the sandcastles built on Saturday and offers great opportunities for grandparents/grandchildren to dig in together!  This is free for grandparents and grandchildren visiting the museum together, with the same $8/person reduced admission price.  RSVP and learn more about this event here.
