“Oh, the thinks you can think!” That must have been the motivation for combining 10+ favorite Dr. Seuss books into a fantastical, magical, musical extravaganza called Seussical!  With the Cat in the Hat as your host and emcee, you’re in for a rollicking good trip through tales such as Horton Hears a Who, Green Eggs and Ham, and Yertle the Turtle…and of course, the most famous of all, The Cat in the Hat himself.

So, how do you get in on all the fun?

cyt classes

Do you have a child between the ages of 6-18, interested in exploring the world of theater? CYT classes offer many benefits and opportunities to the young people of the community. Training in singing, dance, drama, makeup, set building, accents and dialects, stunts and special effects are just some of the topics offered in three 10-week terms each year. Classes, limited to 25 students, are taught by experienced theater arts people–teachers, performers and professionals. Some of their current teachers began their careers as students in CYT classes. Just as important as the teaching of theater arts skills is the positive effect that theatrical experience and performance has on the self-discipline, self-confidence and self esteem of young people. Some CYT students go on to pursue careers in entertainment, but they all gain poise, experience, self-confidence and an appreciation for the arts that only comes from participating in a stage production. CYT offers young people an opportunity to keep busy, to learn, to develop their talents, to interact with friends and to be positive members of their community.

How does this relate to volunteerism, you ask?  Well–CYT parents are required to donate time on a committee working toward the final, successful production of the play.  Supporting the family unit through the direct involvement of each family member’s talents, interests and abilities is another reason why so many families return season after season, year after year.

Hope to see you there, along with our favorite Dr. Seuss characters, brought to life, including Horton the Elephant, The Cat in the Hat, Gertrude McFuzz, lazy Mayzie, and a little boy with a big imagination–Jojo.  Come be transported from the Jungle of Nool to the Circus McGurkus to the invisible world of the Whos. This story of the powers of friendship, loyalty, family, and community will touch your heart and make you believe “anything’s possible.”

Seussical is fun for the whole family!
