The temperatures in Phoenix are climbing higher as summer quickly approaches. For those of us that have kids with summer birthdays, the heat poses a party planning challenge. Below are a few summer birthday party ideas to help  beat the heat and throw a memorable birthday party.

Have a child that is crazy about the ocean and marine animals? The OdySea Aquarium offers a variety of birthday packages and themes. Bumper boats and the chance to get face-to-face with some amazing animals are sure to delight kids of any age.

Arts & Craft Party

Let their creativity shine! At places like Pinsperation, Board & Brush, Michael’s, Mud Pie Studios and As You Wish, children can work on their own project to take home. A major bonus: you don’t have to clean up the mess.

Bowling Center

Most of us can remember having at least one birthday party at a bowling alley. Let It Roll, Uptown Alley and Brunswick Zone are three popular places for parties. All of them offer bowling, games and a whole lot of fun.

Fitness & Athletics

We just went to a birthday party at Lifetime Fitness and it was so much fun. Depending on the gym, party goers will be able to rock climb, shoot hoops and bounce the afternoon away in a bounce house indoors. AZ on the Rocks, Ice Den, Circus School of Arizona, The Little Gym, Pump It Up as well as gymnastics studios throughout Phoenix will keep those little ones moving the whole time.

Museum

Museums are a great place to visit when the temperatures warm up—why not have a birthday party there too? Phoenix is full of wonderful museums for kids and all of them are full of great learning activities. The Children’s Museum, Arizona Science Center, Hall of Flame Museum of Firefighting, i.d.e.a. Museum and Legoland Discovery Center Arizona are museums you may want to check-out.

Race Track

Is your kid always going at full speed? An indoor go kart racing party might be perfect. Octane Raceway and K1 Speed will let the party goers zip around a race track. With this activity your children are going to need to be a certain height to participate, so before you book make sure they meet the height requirements.

Restaurant with Games

These types of facilities have seemed to expand around the valley in recent years and make for fantastic birthday parties. Kids can play games, have a laser tag battle or swing a club. Main Event, Dave & Busters, Top Golf, Peter Piper Pizza and Chuck E. Cheese are all go-to places for an indoor party that is packed with entertainment options.

Splish Splash—Water Fun

Whether it’s a pool party in your backyard or at a waterpark—a party centered around water is always a hit in the summer. Water slide rentals are also very popular during the summer and the best part is that both kids and adults can enjoy them. If your neighborhood has a community center, these are great places to host a pool party.

Tea Party

Sip away the afternoon with a tea party. Mrs. Potts Tea Party steps things up a bit with singing princesses and themed party packages. It is almost like stepping right into your favorite Disney movie.

Trampoline Park

Time to bounce! Trampoline parks are loads of fun. Kids gets to bounce around with their friends and burn off some of that summer time energy. With trampoline parks scattered across the Valley you are bound to have one that is close to your home.

Hopefully this list helped spark some birthday planning ideas!

She holds a Masters of Business Administration degree, is a marketing communications professional and owner of Auriga Marketing. While she was born in Phoenix, she grew up in Temecula, California and moved back to attend Xavier College Preparatory. After high school she ventured to Denver for college (and skiing) and then on to Honolulu a couple years after graduating. She and her husband returned to Arizona in 2012 and made Central Phoenix their home. They love to travel and experience different cultures, having a deep appreciation for a warm beach and sand between their toes. When she isn’t chasing after two boys or playing with their overly energetic dogs, she can be found working on a home DIY project, trying out a new recipe or planning their next family adventure. Oh, and she is also a firm believer that chocolate should be its own food group!
