The Organized Fairy – Professional Organizer

About one month ago, Malka Rodal and I started speaking about possibly organizing a space in my home. Immediately, the master bedroom closet jumped out as what I wanted to tackle. I know that we all have busy lives and we can all come up with a list of excuses, but I feel compelled to give you my list of why-nots, so that I’m not quite as embarrassed about how terrible the state of my closet was.

  • When we moved in to this house 8 years ago, we had many fixes to do to make some areas of the home liveable again.
  • In the past five years, we’ve added 3 children to our family – taking our total to 8
  • I never made my closet a priority
  • It became the catchall for everything that didn’t have a specific place

Malka came over and spent time with me one morning. She asked about what I wanted it to look like and use the space for. She gave me a small list of homework and we set a date for her return in two weeks. The list was completely manageable. I spent about fifteen minutes each day tackling part of the list. My items included:

  • Change hangers to be uniform color
  • Remove the suitcases (yes, suitcases) from the closet and store them in the garage
  • Move the mountain of board games to the game closet

Just getting those things done, I could already see so much progress.

This morning, she came over and we spent two hours together. We folded towels, organized bookshelves, reset the height on the shelves to fit shoes and hats in a consistent manner, and moved random boxes of memories into beautiful labeled bins.

You guys. My closet is amazing now. A little while ago, I walked in and sat down in the floor and just looked around. It is a completely different space – peaceful, beautiful, and organized. My towels look like I’m staying at a resort. Now, I want to tackle every closet in every room.

If you are looking for someone to help you get started and talk you through steps of what to do, I highly recommend Malka at The Organized Fairy. She was so kind and professional. I was not uncomfortable once, even as she dusted my shelves that hadn’t been touched in 8 years. She rejoiced for me when we found random items that I thought were long gone and she was just as excited as I was with the finished product. Everyone needs a buddy to encourage them through this process!

When you give her a call, please tell her we sent you! What space would you choose to have her help with?

Thank you to The Organized Fairy for sponsoring this post!
